About me

I am Elena Valle García, translator, inveterate reader and full-time geek. For as long as I can remember, the worlds of words and videogames have been my inseparable companions, and today I am lucky enough to have combined these two passions by dedicating myself to the translation, proofreading and localisation of videogames.

I graduated in Translation and Interpreting at the Universidade de Vigo. I am fluent in English and French, in addition to my two mother tongues: Galician and Spanish. At the same university I also obtained the title of Specialist in Translation for the Videogame Industry and I did a Master’s Degree in Translation for International Communication.

My main motivation is...

To promote the use of Galician not only in the videogame industry, but also in all cultural fields, such as literature and education. For this reason, I dedicated my Master’s Thesis to the creation of an Elementary Terminographical Dictionary for the translation of videogames into Galician, with equivalents in Spanish, English and French. I am currently studying for a PhD in Translation and Paratranslation, focusing my thesis on how the translation of video games into Galician can be a tool for linguistic standardisation, an academic adventure that I am passionate about!

I am a freelance translator, and I work for translation and market research agencies. Most of the texts I translate have a scientific-technical and medical content. In addition, I also translate books! From fantasy to children’s literature, getting involved in a new book is always wonderful.

Each project has been like a new level in a game: exciting, challenging and full of learning.

I am an all-rounder who is always looking to learn and improve.

This has led me to collaborate in projects such as the Paratradit UVigo T&P 2024 Congress, and also to complement my training with several courses on translation, copywriting or even video game testing.

Besides all this, I love reading and getting lost in unexplored literary universes. In these worlds, I not only find inspiration for my projects, but also the spark that ignites my creativity.
